Frequently Asked Questions

Key answers before you start IELTS study or test registration with New Cambridge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a placement test before class? +

The placement test helps the academic team recommend the right class level for your English ability and IELTS target, so students in each group can progress with similar foundations.

  • An IELTS result from within the last 2 years can be used instead of a placement test.
  • Placement tests are available daily from 10:30 to 16:00.
  • The test takes about 1 hour 30 minutes and includes Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
Where can IELTS scores be used? +

IELTS scores are accepted by many international programmes in Thailand and by universities overseas. Exact score requirements depend on each institution and programme.

  • Many international programmes in Thailand require around 5.5-6.5 or higher.
  • IELTS can be used for applications in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, and Asia.
What documents are needed for IELTS registration? +

Applicants should complete the IELTS application form, prepare original and copied identification documents, and pay the test fee through the test centre process.

  • Use a national ID card or passport, with the original and a copy.
  • Applicants under 15 may use a student ID copy under the stated conditions.
  • All documents should be complete on the registration day.
How is New Cambridge different? +

New Cambridge combines Learner Autonomy with native-speaking teachers who have IELTS experience, helping students build lasting English ability as well as test readiness.

  • Classes focus on active practice and appropriate group levels.
  • Courses develop long-term ability instead of only memorised exam techniques.
  • The classroom environment gives students regular exposure to natural English.
Can I use an existing IELTS score for placement? +

Yes. If your IELTS result is no more than 2 years old from the test date, the academic team can use it to recommend the most suitable course.
